YasuJutaro was commissioned by fashion designer, Pilar Macchione, to make some cuffs and chokers for her Spring collection to be showcased at the Fashion Plates Fashion Show to benefit the San Diego foodbank on Saturday, March 12, 2011. What evolved was a line of black and white cuffs each featuring beautiful buttons from around the world. All cuffs are available for purchase. Chokers are special order only. It's a perfect marriage between luxurious lamb's leather and one of my favorite things to work with -- buttons! The lamb's leather is soft and so comfortable. Bloomingdale's Chestnut Hill Trunk Show

These brass filigree earrings were on "Chuck" last Monday night. Chuck's sister, "Ellie", played by Sarah Lancaster, wore them in the first segment. I think they were stunning on her! These earrings are made from 100% natural brass and kyanite but are also available with tiger's eye, freshwater pearl, carnelian, australian jade, garnet, aquamarine, rose quartz, new jade and faceted natural quartz. A serendipitous thing happened yesterday at my trunk show at Bloomingdale's at the Shops at Riverside in Hackensack, NJ. This Bloomingdales along with 59th Street is carrying a clothing line from London called "Allsaints". Their new flagship store is in Soho. In trying to create new ways to market their brand at Bloomies they approached me because they thought that the look and feel of my pieces were a good match for their image and customer. The manager of Y.E.S. set up a partnership between YasuJutaro and Allsaints to promote both of our brands in the Bergen store. I've added their website to my list of favorites on Facebook. Check it out - they have some great clothes!

YasuJutaro on NBC's Chuck

While I was in California I had a meeting with the costume designer for NBC's Chuck TV show at Warner Bros. Studios in Hollywood. She purchased 4 pieces from my collection! It's going to be wild to see them on the show this fall. I will be sure to post photos and/or clips. The season premiere is on Monday, September 20. If you're a Chuck fan, look for YasuJutaro jewelry on one of the lead actresses sometime after the third episode!

Trunk Show at South Coast Plaza in California!

I guess you can say that this is the start of YasuJutaro's coast to coast tour! On August 11, YasuJutaro will be showcased at a trunk show at Bloomingdales South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California. This is a beautiful upscale mall in Orange County that I know all too well from my days when I lived in Southern California. I'll post some pics when I get back!

My love affair with Roman glass continues. It's featherlight weight and luminescence adds a brightness to winter and will add a welcome freshness to spring. Roman Glass is an approximately 2000 year old fragment of glass unearthed from archeological sites dating back to the time of the Roman Empires' occupation of the Holy Land. These antiquities were once part of everyday Roman Empire era household items such as wine goblets or bowls. Each fragment of ancient Roman glass displays a unique patina (luster and flash of color).

My new series of fine silver charms are fresh out of the kiln! These charms are made from recycled silver from the photographic process which is blended with an organic clay binder. This clay is molded and carved and then fired in a kiln. During this process, the clay binder burns away and leaves 99.9% fine silver.

Each charm is one-of-a-kind and features a tree on the front. They can be customized with your choice of words or personalized with a name on the back. Please allow up to two weeks for delivery. Autumn is here!

The leaves are on fire, there is a chill in the air, and every day we get closer and closer to winter. Since moving to New Jersey five years ago, I've come to appreciate Spring and Autumn almost as much as someone born and raised on the East coast. Spring because it's not winter anymore and Autumn because it's not winter yet.

These necklaces remind me of Autumn. Each one is unique with freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals. The main stone is either citrine, carnelian or rose quartz -- all strung on a silk cord and hand knotted. Stay tuned for more to come....

Peace signs are all the rage. Originally designed for the British nuclear disarmament movement in 1958 by a professional British designer, Gerald Holtom, the peace symbol is now internationally recognized. I wanted to create a birthstone necklace for girls that would also have a message. The peace sign is centered on a sterling silver ball chain with alphabet letters. The number of gemstones depends on whether the name has an even or odd number of letters (as shown in the two examples). This is a birthstone pendant for mothers based on the Maori eternity symbol which represents the joining together of people. The single figure eight represents the journey of life where people will always cross paths no matter how far apart they stray. What a great symbol to represent a mother and her children as they grow up and move away.

This pendant is molded and shaped by hand using precious metal clay which becomes fine silver after firing in a kiln. The stone in the center represents the mother's birthstone and the stones that dangle represent the children. Shown here are blue topaz for December and two pearls for two sons born in June. Of course, any number of children can be added. Each pendant is hand formed so no two will be exactly alike. It hangs from an adjustable black cotton cord with slide knots.
